Instant setup and easy launch with a Shopify subdomain, so the store can go live quickly without buying a custom domain.

No extra domain cost, which helps when testing a new store or keeping upfront expenses low.

Built-in SSL/security and Shopify’s hosted infrastructure, so basic security is handled for the store owner.

Useful for testing checkout, designs, and trial orders before committing to a custom brand domain.

Permanent backend URL tied to the Shopify account, which can be convenient for admin access.

Weak branding because myshopify.com makes the store look less independent and less professional.

Lower customer trust, since some shoppers associate myshopify.com with starter stores or scams.

Poorer SEO and ad performance compared with a custom domain, especially in competitive markets.

The subdomain is locked in, so it cannot be changed later.
